Volunteers Wanted for Ludwigia Extraction!

The Long Tom Watershed Council is seeking volunteers to help out with 4 different Ludwigia extraction opportunities with LTWC water quality specialist, Amanda Reinholtz!

Rain or Shine! This is an amazing opportunity to gain professional experience, give back to your community, and get your hands dirty with Long Tom Watershed Council Staff.

About the Project: Ludwigia hexapetala, or Uruguayan water primrose, is an aggressively invasive aquatic plant. It forms dense mats that can rapidly overtake still or slow-moving water, disrupting recreation, interfering with water intakes, and reducing water quality and important habitat for fish.

When:

  • Saturday, August 5, 2017 – 9am-12pm
    • Pulling Ludwigia from the shore
  • Sunday, August 6, 2017 – 9am-12pm
    • Pulling Ludwigia from the shore
  • Saturday, August 26, 2017 – 9am-12pm
    • Pulling Ludwigia from a boat
  • Sunday, August 27, 2017 – TBD

Where: Each day volunteers will be at a different site. Some restoration sites are on private land, in which case we will meet at the LTWC office to arrange a carpool. Other sites are public, therefore volunteers can arrange their own transportation.
